One year ago, today January 2 a Japan Airlines Airbus A350 came into contact with coast guard plane 5 of the 6 on board the coast guard’s plane were killed. All passengers that crash landed onboard the Japan Airlines survived at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
From that day forward 2024 was filled with incidents and accidents with the last one being the deadliest. A Boeing 737 800 of Jeju air with 181 people all but 2 were killed. Miraculously a male and female flight attendants sitting in the rear of the aircraft survived. A total of 179 lives were lost on board. The only thing left of the plane was the tail section. South Korea has had an impeccable safety record until December 29, 2024.
By far 2024 was a turbulent year for airline including a few major ones filing bankruptcy, chapter 11. Engine shortage for many makes had airlines trimming back and cancelling many routes and for the future year.
One major impact and increase was airline fares at a few airports. One airport, in particular Austin Bergstrom International Airport since April 2024 increased its costs way above all others. A major mismanagement from the CEO with a toxic work environment for many. In excusable business conducts to no transparency of communication or professionalism to a few others. This negativity is far reaching causing deficit for many. A true disrespect for others and in some cases short staffed causing safety concerns.
One can only hope what goes around comes around and those who appointed one certain position see through the fog.
On other notes we all learn about those who are not team building management or leaders. For 2025 a different approach for far better landing a better leadership in the industry for many years to come.
