Back in 2008 during many years in the fire service we saw a severe uptick in suicide calls. Years later opioid calls became an epidemic. Today during the Pandemic, we are seeing an extreme increase on gun violence and severe assaults even onboard planes.
At San Antonio April 15, 2021 that was yesterday a gunman drove the opposite direction an arrivals level with gun and ammunition loaded to the hilt. Local police department and eleven-year veteran acted swiftly saving many lives. Thus, causing fear and a few injuries thank fully nobody was killed. The gunman however was pronounced at the hospital deceased. It also ensued chaos panic and temporary shutdown of airport operations at San Antonio airport.
Overnight another assault with extreme violence by a gunman at the Fed Ex facility near the Indianapolis Airport killing initially eight innocent people. Where does this stop? During this pandemic we need humanity amongst us all. During these unprecedented extreme difficult times we need understanding and help those who need help.
Of recent even on Tunis Air flight a major fight over overhead bins on board an aircraft. Recent attacks and fights like the one at Fort Lauderdale airport where a few disembarked a flight refusing to wear masks then at the terminal to the dismay of others a violent fight broke out at the terminal. Again, where is the humanity today?
Shots fired recently at a Detroit fire department vehicle. Last summer seeing people throwing bricks at one Texas fire department trying to put out a vehicle fire. This was all during a protest. The surge in violence and unrest. Where is the humanity?
Fire Rescue put there lives on the line everyday along with others. We know it is extremely difficult times but there must be a change. Small business get that and understand the challenges and difficult times. Smaller cities and fire departments know the challenges that lie ahead.
On the other hand, certain larger cities and companies have lost sight of people and the understanding. There are some big corporations and companies in general that cast people away without any humanity to save themselves. Many people have worked with them for years or some just started out with these companies then let got abruptly with no cause for concern. People are human and need some humanity and not be cast aside. Society will continue to erupt if this pattern continues. We too at Fire and Aviation TV have experienced in some ways and forms over the last few years. Yet we get it and understand but now is the time for many other corporations and cities to understand people need help and not politics all put aside. Far too many violent acts are taking place. In the last 24 hours two major events alone have caused deaths and chaos disrupting the lives and many innocent people. This needs to stop and for once can we all pause have some humanity and civility.
