Years in the planning and building have finally come to this day November 18, 2025.

Overnight the old terminal closes permanently November 17, 2025. Overnight Monday to Tuesday morning the 1.7-billion-dollar terminal of Pittsburgh International Airport comes to life. Theres an old saying built by Steelers proud to be a Steeler.

As the last flight comes in at 12.30 am so will the last piece of baggage at baggage claim and then silence will prevail. The lights will go out; there will be no more arrivals or departures in the 90s-style terminal.  At 1am the last train will arrive at the landside terminal and never depart again. Sad to see the old terminal and operations shut down. For many millions of people like the editor we reminisce.

The new terminal offers significantly improved parking facilities and enhances operational efficiency as an airport.  Live tests were conducted several weeks ago as a preliminary evaluation, similar to a dress rehearsal.  Tuesday the show goes on with a new stage that being a 1.7 billion Dollar Terminal.
