December to Remember Patience Prevails

As December begins with recent multiple events affect airlines and airports. For the most part air travelers too were directly impacted and packed their patience.

November was a turbulent month and so much going on Fire and Aviation TV had no time to write up a story. All media outlets were used as a constant barrage of updates were needed.

From the tragic UPS Cargo Crash that still impacts ALL McDonnel Douglas DC10 and MD 11 aircraft. All are grounded worldwide, which could severely impact one airline’s business.  Western Global Airline has already cutback with furlough of many pilots. Original fleet of fifteen MD11 Freighters and only four in service are all grounded. They have only four Boeing 747s in operation.  This situation is expected to put considerable pressure on operations during the holiday season, exceeding initial expectations.

UPS and FedEx are feeling the strain with approximately nine per cent of the entire fleet grounded with this action. UPS by far seems to have major problems with deliveries and customer service. Even as founder of Fire and Aviation TV have personal experience. We are deeply shocked and saddened as one of the three pilots was a former Bastrop County Fire Chief. Our hearts and prayers go out to all affected.

The Government shutdown ended after 43 days on November 13, 2025. Multiple implications with even ten percent of flight schedules were implemented immediately while the shutdown. A real mess and stressful for all those involved. Once again, all the people flying or wanted to fly were mercilessly affected during that time.

Thanksgiving came and so did winter weather in many parts impacting flights. For the day after Friday November 28. Without warning immediate upgrades were required with Airbus A320, some Airbus A321 and even Airbus A319 aircraft. That alone was some 6,500 aircraft worldwide. Even though upgrades to software average two hours or more some took longer to get this done due to volume and manpower. As of Monday December 1, 2025, majority of aircraft worldwide were upgraded to avoid the problem that caused immediate grounding of aircraft. To date there are maybe 2 percent of aircraft worldwide that are in the final process of upgrades causing the aircraft to be unavailable to fly until completed.

Let this December be a great and safe one. A December to remember full of fun, enjoyment and great new beginning for the New Year 2026. Fire and Aviation TV founder would like to wish you all a great December and successful New Year 2026.
