Second time around in less than a year four executives paid over a million in bonuses while airline files for bankruptcy. The new C.E.O. Dave Davis receives $2.9 million dollars to stay.
Wait this is a re occurring nightmare and slap in the face for employees of the airline. First time around, only days before the C.E.O. Ted Christie took $3.8-million-dollar bonus to stay on after exiting bankruptcy. Weeks after the airline exited bankruptcy so did Ted Christie along with the bonus check.

Cutbacks and layoffs had already affected Spirit Airlines in the summer of 2025 recently. No rases or bonuses for airlines flight attendants, pilots, or airport and ground crews for the airline. All in all its all about restructuring and still flying as an airline for future years ahead.
Had the airline not made this move in uncertain terms it would have folded. As much as the competition would like to see the airline gone. A last-ditch attempt before filing for bankruptcy late hours of last week was an offer toe Frontier Airlines. Although a few years back before JetBlue Airways deal to merge. Frontier Airlines was in the running but back then they turned down the deal.
Now it is the last chance to re=organize and survive. They can do that, and it will take some downsizing to do so. Occasionally, we all need to downsize.
