A Grim and Heartfelt Loss of 600,000 Americans Lost Lives

February 6, 2020, was the first recorded and known death of Coronavirus in the U.S. Today June 15, 2021, its official a death toll of 600,000 have lost their lives in the U.S. That is in a little over 15 months. That is as many as World War 1 and World War 2 deaths combined almost!! All totals courtesy of C.D.C.

As the President / C.E.O. of Fire and Aviation TV a somber moment and tears for those lost ones.  More then a moment of silence after watching a video of this breaking news today.  As a company back then we knew of the first arrival of coronavirus in December of 2019. The first arrival on a flight into Anchorage, Alaska on a special chartered flight. This flight was to continue on elsewhere in the U.S. With that said the airport had all the precautions in place.

We first reported about global spread of the Coronavirus known as Covid19 January 30, 2020. Having just returned from two trips Florida and New York back to Texas we were concerned. As we began our networking and business trips next was Los Angeles February 2020 where we became very concerned. During our time we learned and witnessed charter and cargo aircraft with sick passengers arriving at LAX. More so there was a severe increase of mask wearing passengers’ flights from China and other Asian countries. This was more evident at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Also known as terminal 6. Furthermore, there was mixed feelings among the airport as to wearing a mask or not, specially around that area of the airport. Even shuttle busses and certain staff would, or would not be wearing masks accordingly.

Away from the airport and many parts of Los Angeles and surrounding area no signs of masks. No indication of the severity of incoming passengers and mask wearing from those regions of the world. Having spoke to some hospital staff and nurses during the trip there was an alarming rate of concern had risen. With deep concerns that was expressed and how extreeme this could spread if not contained. This trip was not about staying longer and was quick to return to Texas. Why you ask, well knowingly after witnessing in LA. That and discussion among Fire and Medical division we knew that as a country we were in serious trouble!!!

Sure, enough Texas became one of the earlier states to shutdown in Lockdown as the beginning of March 2020. Other states were slowly closing. Before all of them followed suit, March 9, 2020, the deadly virus became officially a Pandemic. Events, history and many lives lost since then. Far too many times we feel it was not acted on quickly enough or handled the way it was. Shelter in Place became the norm and the world turned upside down. Too many lives and livelihoods lost. We have our story just as millions of other do.  It cost us both personally and professionally where we have to rebuild. We look back to times before like Thanksgiving of 2019. With that it gives us the strength to move forward and never forget We ask everyone to take a moment of silence for this country has reached a grim total of lost loved ones that many will never see again.
